Kassler Recipe – Smoked Pork Chops with Green Beans

The Kassler Recipe today is a combination of Kassler meat (smoked pork chops) and green beans. It is a very easy recipe, you just need to get the Kassler. Schaller and Weber in NY has this German meat specialty. They smoke the meat in-house and sell it online. Happy Cooking!

Ingredients Kassler Recipe

500 g Kassler, cut in cubes Find Kassler here –
2 smaller onions
1 lb green beans
Bohnenkraut – summer savory to taste, fresh or dried
3-4 tbsp sour cream or creme fraiche
1 tbsp butter
salt, pepper to taste

Cooking Instructions Kassler Recipe

  • Heat butter, chop onions fine, brown them for some minutes.
  • Cut Kassler in cubes, add to onions. Remove the bones if you use the ribs.
  • Place meat into the pan with onions and brown briefly. Set aside.
  • Prepare green beans, cut off ends, cut in half if too long, and boil in salted water until they are almost done
  • Add the beans to the meat. Mix well.
  • Spice to taste.
  • Saute until the beans are completely done and the meat as well.
  • Add creme fraiche or sour cream.
  • Bring to a very brief boil.
  • Serve hot with mashed or boiled potatoes.
