Mulled Wine Recipe – German Gluehwein for Winter

german gluehwein

We found a Mulled Wine Recipe for you – it’s called “Glühwein” or the English version, Gluhwine. It is a traditional hot drink during the winter/holiday months. The fall and winter months are the time for hot drinks and beverages, and Germany is very popular in making and serving these drinks! Every German Christmas serves this drink and, because it’s cold in December, it’s really keeping warm, and makes tipsy if enjoyed too much!

In Scandinavia they call it “Gloegg” but it is served without alcohol. Glühwein tastes the best when the temperatures are low, enjoying it outside or at the fireplace. It is a Standard drink on every German Christmas Market in Germany. On the markets they sell it steaming hot from their booths.
Glühwein does not only smell nice it tastes delicious too! It is a wonderful drink for these cold winter days. Find out how to make it at home. ALDI carries a selection, so does Cost Plus or German specialty shops. Happy Cooking!
